New Website Increases Outreach, Highlights SFWMD Public Restoration Planning Workshops

Governing Board Saves Threatened Species and Taxpayer Dollars

West Palm Beach, FL – The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Governing Board on Thursday took an innovative step that will save two precious Florida resources, the threatened gopher tortoise and taxpayer dollars.

"To help a threatened species, while also making a conscious effort to minimize the use of taxpayer funds is the definition of a 'win-win' for the District."

Governing Board Announces Seventh Consecutive Year with No Property Tax Increase

West Palm Beach, FL – For the seventh consecutive year, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Governing Board acted to unburden Florida taxpayers. The nine-person Board championed an annual budget in which residents pay the same amount of property taxes as last year or, in some cases, slightly less than last year.

CFWI Projects Taking Shape Throughout Region

West Palm Beach, FL – Innovative projects are being developed by the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) to meet the growing needs of the five-county Central Florida region while also protecting the region's water resources. Water experts project the region will need an additional 300 million gallons of water per day by 2035. Only about 50 mgd will be available from traditional sources without harming the water and related natural resources like wetlands and lakes.
