SFWMD Ready for Tropical Storm Emily

West Palm Beach, FL – As Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency across Florida counties with Tropical Storm Emily passing over the state, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is executing operational measures today to provide flood protection for South Florida's 8.1 million residents as rains from the storm fall throughout the region over this week.

SFWMD Holds Public Workshops for Lake Okeechobee Watershed Restoration Planning

West Palm Beach, FL – The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) conducted two public workshops on the Lake Okeechobee Watershed Restoration Project (LOWRP) this week, Thursday afternoon in Okeechobee and Friday morning in West Palm Beach. More than 90 Floridians participated in the workshops in person. The meetings were also webcast.

West Palm Beach, FL – Reaching a major milestone in the effort to protect the St. Lucie River and Estuary, engineers at the South Florida Water Management District this month began filling the repaired Ten Mile Creek Water Preserve Area to store and clean water for the river and estuary.
