SFWMD Governing Board Awards Contract to Build C-43 Reservoir's Main Inflow Pump Station

West Palm Beach, FL – The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Governing Board today awarded a $58.5 million contract to build the main pump station for the Caloosahatchee River (C-43) West Basin Storage Reservoir.

"This is an important day for the Caloosahatchee River and Estuary and for the entire West Coast region," said SFWMD Governing Board Member Jaime Weisinger. "This pump station is a key component of making the restoration brought by the reservoir a reality."

Water Quality in the Everglades Improves Year-Over-Year

West Palm Beach, FL – Thanks to more than two decades of collaborative efforts by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and Florida Department of Environmental Protection, water quality in the Everglades is another year older and another year better. In Water Year 2017, the District's network of constructed treatment wetlands, known as Stormwater Treatment Areas (STAs), treated water to an average of 15 parts per billion (ppb) of phosphorus, the best performance on record.
