Video: Keeping SFWMD Canal Banks Clear is a Public Service
Like interstate highways for water, South Florida's flood control canals make it possible for 8.1 million people to live in what many call paradise.
More than 2,000 miles of canals from Orlando to the Florida Keys are operated and maintained by the South Florida Water Management District. Keeping them clear of debris and vegetation, especially on their banks, ensures this system works every single day and night to protect Florida families and businesses.
