- Posted July 24, 2024: A portion of the Powerline Grade in the Dupuis Management Area is temporarily closed for maintenance activities.
- The DuPuis Equestrian Campground has been separated into two campgrounds; equestrian and non-equestrian. Anyone wishing to camp in the equestrian portion of the campground must have a minimum of one horse per Special Use License. All other campers may camp in the non-equestrian camping area. Similar to other District campgrounds, the main gate at the DuPuis Equestrian Campground will be locked at all times and require a Special Use License for day use, equestrian camping, and non-equestrian camping. Up to two dogs (pets) are permitted per Special Use License within the campground, otherwise pet rules remain the same within the rest of the area. Special Use Licenses are available at www.sfwmd.gov/sul. Apply early! Hunting season dates and additional camping rules are described in the DuPuis hunter’s brochure at myfwc.com. Please also check the DuPuis calendar link below for scheduled hunting dates and closures before visiting the area.
This multi-use natural area is interspersed with numerous ponds, wet prairies, cypress domes, pine flatwoods and remnant Everglades marsh.
The area provides miles of hiking and horseback trails, an equestrian center, graded vehicle roads, backpack and group campsites and seasonal hunting. DuPuis is far from urban areas, and its dark night sky lends itself to excellent stargazing.
Other activities include fishing from the partially covered pier, picnicking or enjoying primitive group and family camping. There are 22 miles of hiking trails, including a segment of the Ocean to Lake Trail, and an equestrian campground with access to 40 miles of horseback riding trails.
Hunting is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Visit myfwc.com for hunting dates, regulations and detailed license information.
