The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) will temporarily close all SFWMD-Managed Lands today, Monday, September 26 at 5:00pm in preparation of Hurricane Ian.
All SFWMD-Managed Lands are expected to re-open as conditions warrant after the storm passes South Florida.
The South Florida Water Management District is anticipating the possibility of significant rainfall in the Upper Kissimmee Chain of Lakes associated with Tropical Storm Ian. The rainfall is expected to cause the Kissimmee River to expand into the floodplain and deepen.
Due to the updated forecast of Tropical Storm Ian, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) will close all navigational locks starting on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 6:00pm, instead of Monday, September 26 at the end of operating hours.
