As the countdown to 2023 begins, the South Florida Water Management District is celebrating another remarkable year of unprecedented progress for Everglades restoration and water quality in Florida.
Working together with our federal, state, and local partners, the District continues to accelerate key projects that are improving the quantity, quality, timing and distribution of water to the Greater Everglades ecosystem.
Did you know that record state funding coupled with historic momentum are making a real difference to protect Florida’s precious water resources and restore our iconic River of Grass?
Restoring America’s Everglades is the world’s most ambitious ecosystem restoration effort, and our SFWMD team is proud of the significant progress that continues to be made to restore this unique ecosystem.
To date, 55 Everglades restoration projects have been completed, broken ground or hit a major milestone since January of 2019. Projects such as the EAA Reservoir Project, Caloosahatchee (C-43) Reservoir, the Picayune Strand Restoration Project and many more continue to make progress.
These projects are vital to restoring the Greater Everglades ecosystem, protecting Florida’s precious natural resources and improving water quality throughout South Florida.
