The 2025 King Tide season runs through December 7, 2025, and the South Florida Water Management District (District) is making it easy for the public to find enhanced information about expected tidal conditions.
DID YOU KNOW: The District monitors and documents King Tide events to help guide water management decisions, now and in the future.
UNDERSTANDING KING TIDES: Along with rainfall and surge, high tide events also contribute to flood risks in South Florida. The variation in strength and direction of the gravitational pull of the moon, especially during the new and full moon phases in the Fall, contributes to King Tide occurrences.
SIGN UP FOR WEEKLY KING TIDE FORECASTS: The District launched a weekly Tidal Outlook Forecast, published every Monday, to report conditions, such as wind strength and direction, and ocean currents, that can cause tides to occur higher or lower than predicted at certain locations.
Signing up is easy. Just visit our email signup page, enter your email address and check the “King Tide Forecast” option. Once you are registered, we will send you an email every Monday through the end of the 2025 King Tide season. These weekly updates are intended to be informational for interested stakeholders and the public.
IMPORTANT DATES: The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration predicts high tides will peak along South Florida's coast during the following days (peaks vary by location). During these upcoming periods, high tides may exceed one or more of the National Weather Service’s thresholds to indicate potential flood risks.
