
In celebration of Public Service Recognition Week, we are highlighting the South Florida Water Management District’s (District) dedicated team of public servants who are working every day to manage and protect our precious water resources.
DID YOU KNOW: District staff work from Orlando to the Florida Keys to safeguard and restore our water resources and ecosystems, protect our communities from flooding, and meet the region's water needs.
MANAGING OUR WATER RESOURCES: Our talented team of employees works year-round to effectively manage water that moves through the District's canals, natural areas, levees and water control structures. We continue to advance key restoration projects that are improving the quantity, quality, timing and distribution of water within the Greater Everglades Ecosystem.
PUBLIC SERVICE MISSION: District scientists, engineers, project managers, financial analysts, administrative staff and many other dedicated employees are committed to carrying out our public service mission. Our work includes:
- Advancing Everglades restoration
- Improving water quality
- Restoring and protecting South Florida’s natural ecosystems
- Managing, safeguarding and expanding regional water supplies
- Monitoring weather conditions and managing water levels throughout the District's water control system
- Providing flood protection for the communities in South Florida
- Advancing scientific data and research to ensure the region's water resources and ecosystems are resilient now and into the future
