Smart Irrigation Month begins on July 1, serving as an important reminder that small changes can make a big difference for your landscape, your wallet and our natural resources.

The South Florida Water Management District teamed up with Ducks Unlimited, a non-profit conservation organization, to enhance more than 185 acres of wetlands in the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes Wildlife Management Area in Polk County.

WHAT ARE SURPLUS ITEMS: The District uses many types of professional items and equipment to carry out its public service mission. Once these items have served their useful life and they are no longer needed by the District, they are offered for sale to the public. 

In celebration of Everglades Day, we are highlighting the beauty of America’s largest subtropical wilderness.

SUBTROPICAL WILDERNESS: This iconic River of Grass is a mosaic of sawgrass marshes, freshwater wetlands, prairies and forested uplands that support a rich plant and wildlife community. The mix of salt and fresh water makes it the only place on Earth where alligators and crocodiles exist side by side.
