This is a public meeting of the Big Cypress Basin Board to discuss and consider activities impacting the Big Cypress Basin of the South Florida Water Management District.

The Big Cypress Basin Board may take official action at the meeting on any item appearing on the agenda and on any item that is added to the agenda as a result of a change to the agenda approved by the presiding officer of the meeting pursuant to Section 120.525, Florida Statutes.

This is a public meeting to discuss and consider Loxahatchee River Preservation Initiative (LRPI) business, including current and future projects and activities.

Since its inception in 2000, the LRPI has guided regional watershed restoration projects within northeastern Palm Beach County and southern Martin County. The LRPI is a multi-agency partnership between the South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (Florida Park Service), Friends of the Loxahatchee River, Jupiter Inlet District, Loxahatchee River Environmental Control District, Martin County, Palm Beach County, South Indian River Water Control District, Town of Jupiter, and Village of Tequesta. 

Members of the public are invited to attend and provide public comment.

GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE DISCUSSED: 
The District is hosting a technical workshop with an independent scientific peer review panel for the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) program. The workshop will include the progress of ASR well studies conducted for the Lake Okeechobee Watershed Restoration Project (LOWRP), a component of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. Additionally, there will be discussions on scientific investigation related to ASR wells including water quality treatment, geological and ecological studies, and scientific studies conducted by the United States Army Engineer Research and Development Center.

The 2023–2024 Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan Update (2023–2024 LEC Plan Update) assesses current and projected water needs in the LEC Planning Area through 2045. The LEC planning area includes Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties as well as most of Monroe County and the eastern portions of Hendry and Collier counties. The meeting will include an overview of the draft 2023–2024 LEC Plan Update and an update on the revised Lake Okeechobee Minimum Flows and Minimum Water Levels Recovery Strategy, including a summary of the regional modeling evaluation and analysis.
