SFWMD Governing Board Asking for Public Input to Revise Rules for Northern Everglades and Coastal Estuaries Water Quality

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Governing Board today initiated a rule-making process and asked for the public's input in amending rules to support water quality improvements in the Northern Everglades, which includes the Lake Okeechobee Watershed and the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee River watersheds and estuaries.

Public can Provide Input for C-43 Storage Reservoir Water Quality Study

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The public is invited to provide input and ideas to improving water quality as part of the C-43 Reservoir Project. Members of the public can be a part of this important effort to evaluate water quality opportunities to support the Caloosahatchee Estuary. The C-43 Reservoir will store approximately 170,000 acre-feet of local basin stormwater runoff.

SFWMD Governing Board Collaborates with USDA to Identify Insects to Combat Invasive Plants

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.  - South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Governing Board renewed an ongoing contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to research, develop and rear biocontrol insects to help combat the threat posed by invasive plants to the native Everglades ecosystem.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.  -  South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Executive Director Drew Bartlett and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District Commander Col. Andrew Kelly held a joint press conference today detailing the cooperative efforts the two agencies are undertaking to reduce the need for harmful lake releases and to move water south of Lake Okeechobee.

SFWMD Fully Activating EOC Tomorrow at 8 a.m.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Executive Director Drew Bartlett provided an update on Hurricane Dorian at 4:15 p.m. today. Director Bartlett partially activated the District's Emergency Operation Center (EOC) today and will fully activate the EOC starting tomorrow at 8 a.m. Impacts from Hurricane Dorian are expected in Broward, Martin, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Polk and St. Lucie counties in less than 48 hours.
