The South Florida Water Management District's Tidal Outlook for the forecast period of August 19, 2024 through August 26, 2024, is now available. Tidal water levels along the southeast coast of Florida are expected to stay below the National Weather Service's "Minor Flooding" threshold. Tidal water levels on the west coast and in the Florida Keys are predicted to be slightly above the "Minor Flooding" threshold.

With approximately 700 miles of shoreline and 40+ gravity coastal structures upstream of tidally influenced canals, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD)’s water management mission is influenced by sea levels. Along with rainfall and surge, high tide events also contribute to flood risks in South Florida. The variation in strength and direction of the gravitational pull of the moon, especially during the new and full moon phases in the Fall, contributes to King Tide occurrences.
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is actively addressing the impacts of rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and changing rainfall and flood patterns. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are encouraging stakeholders and the public to share their comments on the Draft 2024 District Sea Level Rise and Flood Resiliency Plan.

The South Florida Water Management District's Tidal Outlook for the forecast period of November 27, 2023 through December 4, 2023, is now available. This is the final weekly forecast period of the 2023 King Tide season. Minor coastal flooding is possible along South Florida’s east coast and in the Florida Keys through the middle of this week due to the Full Moon occurring today, Monday, November 27. No meteorological factors – such as wind strength and direction, or sea level pressure – are expected to further increase tidal levels during the forecast period.
The South Florida Water Management District's Tidal Outlook for the forecast period of November 20, 2023 through November 27, 2023, is now available. Minor coastal flooding is possible in Monroe County later this week and through the weekend. This is the result of higher than normal tidal levels that are expected in the SFWMD region near the time of the full moon on Monday, November 27. However, tidal levels are forecast to remain near-normal along the east coast of the SFWMD region with no flooding concerns expected.
