$40 Million Available in Partnership Funding for Alternative Water Supply and Water Conservation Projects
alternative water supply

July 7, 2020

The South Florida Water Management District is excited to announce it is accepting applications for cost-share projects to develop alternative water supply projects and water conservation projects. As part of the State of Florida’s efforts to identify and implement cost-effective strategies to protect the state's water resources while meeting Florida’s water needs. Partnering with local governments and other entities for implementation of water conservation projects and development of alternative water projects is an important and effective way to help accomplish this goal.

Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature approved $40 million in funding for developing water supply and water resource development projects, and SFWMD is requesting applications for funding consideration for alternative water supply (AWS) and water conservation projects within the District’s 16-county service area.

Eligible projects for consideration should be construction-ready AWS projects or ready-to-implement water conservation technology programs that provide the most immediate benefits. The application process opened yesterday, July 6, 2020, and closes July 31, 2020 at 4 p.m. Projects may be eligible for up to 50 percent cost-share by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. To apply, click here.
