GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE DISCUSSED:

The South Florida Water Management District, as the non-Federal sponsor for the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, is conducting a Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the North of Lake Okeechobee Component A Reservoir (LOCAR) under Section 203 of the federal Water Resources Development Act of 1986, as amended. The Feasibility Study and EIS will explore opportunities for aboveground water storage north of Lake Okeechobee with an estimated water storage capacity of 200,000 acre-feet. Once complete, the feasibility study and EIS will be submitted to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works for consideration by Congress in the Water Resources Development Act of 2024.

An open house period will be held during the first hour of the meeting (1:00 PM-2:00 PM) where in-person attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions. The presentation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a public comment period. Public comment by virtual attendees will be accepted in the chat only. Questions will not be answered during the dedicated public comment section.

One or more members of the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District may attend these meetings. No Governing Board action will be taken.
