Welcome to SFWMD web conferencing using Web Boards. We are committed to providing the public with the ability to participate online in discussion forums or in real-time interactive sessions on subjects that are important to the many communities that we serve. With these Web Bulletin Boards, we are able to bring individuals together who are geographically dispersed to solve problems, pursue common interests, and provide review and comments. Our goal is to foster communication globally or locally among people with common interests whether their background is professional, civic, or social. Water for the Natural System Technical Document Peer Reviews This web board serves as a nexus of communication between independent scientific peer review panelists, stakeholders and SFWMD staff. It provides the public with the opportunity to observe and participate in the review of the technical documents, data, modeling and assumptions used to draft rules that will protect natural system waters. Scientific peer review panels are convened to review technical information used to support the establishment of a minimum flow and level or a water reservation rule. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in this process and may ask questions or present relevant scientific data to the peer review panelist during their evaluations. All such comments will be included in the rule development record.
C-139 Basin Technical Working Group The C-139 Basin Technical Working Group and its associated Web Board were developed in order to address the technical issues relating to this basin's compliance with Rule 40E-63 and the overlying statutory requirements of the Everglades Forever Act. Since most of these detailed technical discussions do not lend themselves to the general public workshops, this forum allows a more focused interaction between scientific and engineering experts to provide feedback regarding technical aspects of the Rule. Participation in the Working Group is not limited, but we ask that comments and responses have technical merit and remain respectful.
Kissimmee Chain of Lakes Peer Review Web Board This Web Board is set up to assist in the review of components of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes. The Web Board will display drafts of KCOL components, serving as a repository for collaborators and other interested parties to exchange information and develop their collective review of these products.
Public Input related to Long-Term Climate Patterns. Modeling for system-wide or regional response may consider complex interactions between watersheds and combinations of hydrologic, land use and environmental conditions that are typically not considered in the design of individual projects. Drought and flooding events selected for modeling projects depend on the benefits and level of protection desired by the clients/stakeholders as well as the costs and estimated damages. Projects are designed to achieve a suitable balance among expected risks, benefits and costs. You can help us achieve the most suitable balance. Please review our research. If you are a stakeholder, an interested resident, a scientist or researcher--please share your comments and concerns with us, and with each other. Groundwater Peer Review. This Web Board is set up to assist in the peer review of Subregional Ground Water Models. Currently peer reviews have been conducted or are begin conducted for the following models:
Lower East Coast subRegional (LECsR) Model East Central Florida Transient (ECFT) Model Lower West Coast Floridan Aquifer (LWCFAS) Model
The Web Board serves as a repository to allow Panelists to submit their comments on the documentation and to distribute documents such as the Draft and Final Peer Review Reports. It also allows the District to disseminate information about this review, and it allows the general public to closely follow the development of the review. Discussions among Panelists relating to this Peer Review shall occur only during the public workshop and at predetermined, posted teleconferences.
Technical Oversight Committee The Technical Oversight Committee (TOC) originated from the Settlement Agreement of July 11, 1991 as a mechanism for technical review and conflict resolution to support the Everglades Program begun by the Agreement and continued in the 1994 Everglades Forever Act (373.4592 F.S.). Peer Review of the SFWMM This Web Board is set up to assist in the review of the South Florida Water Management Model (SFWMM) version 5.5. It is intended to facilitate communication among the members of the Panel Review Team and to enable their interaction out in the open. The Web Board allows panel members to exchange information and develop their collective review of the model. The final product of the model review is a Final Report by the Panel Review Team. The findings and recommendations of the Final Report will be considered by the South Florida Water Management District for incorporation into the SFWMM model documentation.
