These partnerships can involve large and small ecosystem restoration projects, local flood control or water quality improvement efforts, regional water storage enhancements or local and regional water supply planning. Partnerships can be built on agreements to share expertise or data, to build specific projects, or to share staff or funding to accomplish mutual goals. They also often involve other state agencies, and can include federal partners.

NEWS: The District has a new program to provide funds to local partners to construct alternative water supply projects that are consistent with recommendations contained in the regional water supply plans. Alternative Water Supply Funding

Local Contacts

In many cases, staff from our Regional Service Centers (in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys, Stuart, Okeechobee, Orlando, Fort Myers and Naples) coordinate these partnerships, because they are very familiar with local issues and communities.

For more information on these local contacts, click on "About SFWMD" in the menu at the left; then on "Regional Service Centers."
