Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provide a visual and spatial perspective of data about water resource systems. GIS can be interactive, and may include satellite pictures.
IMPORTANT: Several data requesters have reported issues or problems with the Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2 operating system's compressed folders utility: that they were unable to unzip/view the downloaded zip files provided via this system. SFWMD staff researched the issue and found that Microsoft does not appear to have provided a solution.
If YOU are UNABLE to UNZIP/OPEN the downloaded zip shape files, we recommend that you acquire ANOTHER compression/ decompression software package. A web search using the keywords ZIP SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD will provide you with multiple choices.

Florida DEP LABINS web site (SFWMD USGS-spec DOQQs) aerial photographs
SFWMD distributes GIS data that has been loaded into its Enterprise GIS Data Library databases via the GIS Data Catalog. SFWMD distributes its USGS-specification Digital Orthophotographic Quarter Quadrangle (DOQQ) aerial photography via the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Land Boundary Information System website (LABINS). If you have a need for numerous DOQQs, you may contact LABINS staff directly to arrange for acquisition via DVDs or a USB drive.
If the data you seek is not available at these sites, it is because:
SFWMD does not have the data
SFWMD considers the data to be security-sensitive and does not distribute it publicly
SFWMD does not own the data (it is licensed from a vendor or acquired from another agency)
SFWMD staff have not published the data in the Enterprise GIS Data Library
If you believe that the latter condition exists and you know which SFWMD business unit is responsible for the data, please contact us so we can connect you with staff who may be able to help.
If you have a contract to perform work for SFWMD and need GIS data that is not available via these methods, please contact your project manager or contract administrator to acquire the data.
